Welcome to Technology Leadership! Throughout the short duration of this class, we will be using Wikispaces as our digital classroom for learning both in and outside of class. Please be sure you check back often. The wiki will contain all your information about your class.

Introduction(s)

  • Click on the board to create a new sticky note

    • One Adjective that describes your classroom
    • One Adjective that describes you attitude towards technology

  • Break up into groups of two
  • Look at the keynote on the boards for directions on this challenge
  • Once you have finished the exercise, reflect on the following questions
    • What did you notice about your teammates and others while performing the challenge?
    • What would you have done differently?
    • How do you think kids would fair with this activity in the classroom?
    • How successful do you think your group was?

Using Google Classroom

Google classroom can be used by and educator. Google Classroom currently only allows educators to use the site. With Google classroom, you can create assignments, post announcements and create an online environment for your students to interact with each other and you. Google classroom is great for teachers wanting to extend their classroom or do blended or personalized learning.

Joining a Class

To join the Furman 2015 class, you will need a code and access to the site.
  1. go to www.classroom.google.com
  2. Use the join t09b2a
  3. Once in Google Classroom, you can see the class and post replies/upload assignments!

Using Evernote

Evernote is a great tool for both adults and students! It helps move the paper notebook to a digital platform. It is free and backs up to the web so you can access it on any device.
  • Go to evernote.com to create a an account
  • Explore Evernote throughout this class on multiple devices

Assignment

  • Explore what Google Classroom can do for you and be prepared to discuss in class.
  • Project Based Learning Resources (What is Project Based Learning)


    The following resources will help you understand a little more about Project Based Learning if you haven't already engaged in it before.
    • The Buck Institute is probably the most well known organization that has set the state for Project Based Learning
    • This introductory video on project based learning will give you a good glimpse into what it is all about!
